Bio

R. Rist is an artist and anthropologist whose interdisciplinary practice explores masculinity and materiality through printmaking and photography. Drawing from anthropological and ethnographic approaches, Rist examines how gender is expressed and performed, with particular attention to the range and diversity of masculine expression.

Rist received a BFA in Ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2021, followed by a MS in Anthropology (2023) and a MA in Art (2025) from Minnesota State University, Mankato. They are currently a MFA candidate at The Ohio State University.

Rist has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the 2024 XIII Biennal Internacional de Ceràmica del Vendrell in El Vendrell, Spain, amongst other exhibitions across The United States.
